The Rev. Keith Leroy Scott, 82, of Indianola, formerly of Clear Lake, passed away July 20, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 25, at the Indianola First United Methodist Church. A reception will follow the memorial service at the church.
Keith was born Jan. 1, 1934, to Clyde and Grace Scott in Marion, Iowa. He was a 1952 graduate of Walker High School. Keith married Evelyn Johnson in 1956. He received his bachelor's degree from Cornell College in 1956. He then attended Drew University in Madison, N.J., to receive his master of divinity degree and graduated in 1959. He began his career as a Methodist pastor in 1959 at Nemaha, Iowa. Keith's last appointment with the Iowa Annual Conference ended in 2002 at Geneseo United Methodist Church in rural Buckingham.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Susanna (Myron) Bokemper and Dawn Johnson; grandchildren, Erica Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Nathaniel Johnson, Jessica (Adam) Haight, Erin Bokemper and Daniel Bokemper; great-grandchildren, Gage Haight and Alexis Hood; and sisters-in-law, June Gellhaus, Lenora Streeter and Elaine Bowman.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Betty Louise (Harold) Wagner, Alice Jean (Robert) Bell and Albert (Elaine) Scott; son-in-law, Michael Johnson; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Peck.
