Keith Schlemmer, 85, of Anamosa, died Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at his home with his family at his side.
The Rev. Rodger Good will officiate private services on Friday, Aug. 4, at Riverside Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army and the Anamosa Veterans Honor Guard. Keith Otto Schlemmer was born on Feb. 7, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Otto and Clara (Luedemann) Schlemmer. He graduated from Olin High School and on May 31, 1959, he married Lila Bartels at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa. She died in 2011. On Nov. 9, 2013, he married Jean Jenkins in Anamosa. He was employed by Maquoketa Valley REC as a lineman and retired in 1999 after 38 years of service. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard and earned an Honorable Discharge.
An avid Cubs and Hawkeyes fan, he also enjoyed golfing, gardening, playing cards, visiting friends around town, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is remembered by his wife, Jean; his daughters, Kris (Jeff) Wilson and Karla (Al) Johnson; grandchildren, Andrew, Nicole, Emily, Alicia and Adam; 10 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Kenneth, Carroll (Sharon) and Erma (Dennis) Radtke; as well as by nieces and nephews.
In addition to his first wife Lila, he was preceded in death by his parents.
