Keith Duane Mithelman, 86, of Eugene, Ore., formerly of Norway, Iowa, died Jan. 3, 2016, at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene. Memorial service and luncheon will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Norway United Methodist Church in Norway by guest officiant Pastor Jack Mithelman. His body was cremated by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; his children, Carol Robe of Eugene, Ore., Connie McCracken of Hillsboro, Ore., and Christy Mithelman of Iowa City; and his sister, Ruth Chrystal of Center Point.
Other survivors are Brian and Adam Robe of Eugene, Christina Mithelman and Sean Mithelman, both of Iowa, Pat Akers of Walker, Donna Caldwell of Arlington, Texas, Linda Crawford of Mesquite, Texas, David Chrystal of Centralia, Mo., and John Chrystal of Center Point.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Mithelman.
Born in Malcolm, Iowa, on April 6, 1929, Keith was the son of Mabel and Theodore Mithelman. He married Joan Stuart of Bellevue, Iowa, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on Feb. 21, 1954. Keith fought for his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He worked at Square D in Cedar Rapids for 35 years until his retirement.
He was active in his church in Norway and volunteered for the non-profit organization Heifer International to help alleviate world hunger. Keith was proud to participate in the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight in 2015.
