F. Keith McDaniel, 85, of Coralville, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 10:58 a.m. Oct. 21, 2015, at Mercy Iowa City under hospice care.
He was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Ottumwa to Floyd R. and Linnie Murphy McDaniel. He married Patricia R. Reese on June 15, 1952. Keith was a 1948 graduate of Ottumwa High School, and earned a B.A. in accounting from Iowa State University in 1952. He was a Korean War veteran serving as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.
He had worked as an accountant for 24 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring in 1984.
Keith was a member of First Christian Church in Ottumwa. He was an avid golfer and member of the John Deere Golf League. Keith coached kids in basketball and baseball and was an Iowa Hawkeye fan. He helped build an apartment building on North Elm, and enjoyed watching the stock market.
Surviving are his wife, Patty; a son, Mike (Robin) McDaniel of Lindale, Texas; a daughter, Sue (Aaron) Votroubek of Coralville; four grandchildren, Kristen McDaniel, Brandon (Natalie) McDaniel, Ally Votroubek and Sydney Votroubek; two great-grandchildren, Macson Votroubek and Reese McDaniel; a sister, June Lowe of Cedar Rapids; three nieces; a sister-in-law, Janet Reese of Boston, Mass.; and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Harry Freeman and Luther F. Reese.
His body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Suzanne Swahn officiating. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post 3 American Legion.
The family will be present one hour before the service.
