Keith, James
James Keith, 80, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at his home in West Liberty. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty.
Jim was born April 17, 1931, in West Liberty, Iowa, the son of Harold and Lucille (Yedlick) Keith. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School in the class of 1948. On Feb. 1, 1950, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Cracraft in Burlington. He had been employed at the Ford garage in West Liberty for many years beginning as a teenager, and later working for the City of Iowa City for 17 years until his retirement.
He was a former member of the West Liberty Fire Department. He enjoyed working at the farm, NASCAR races and had built jalopy race cars.
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Mark) Tedrow of Sterling, Ill., and Judy (Rodger) Mardock of Lander, Wyo.; two grandchildren, Daniel Tedrow and Stephanie Vallez; and one great-grandson, Frederick Vallez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie in 2000; daughter, Linda; grandson, Jason Mardock; sister, Donna Freers in April 2011; and a brother, Richard Keith.
Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice or the West Liberty Fire Department.
