Keith Lloyd Hoskins, 29, of Eugene, Ore., formerly of Independence, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in Eugene.
Keith was born Nov. 9, 1987, in Rock Island, Ill., the son of James F. Hoskins. He attended St. John's Catholic Schools from 1990 to 2002. He graduated from Independence High School with the Class of 2006. He attended the University of Northern Iowa until he transferred to the University of Oregon, where he studied film production. He recently earned his detective license.
He was a member of the SAE (Sigma Alpha Epsilon) fraternity while at UNI and the National Honor Society, while in high school he enjoyed playing football and served as captain of the team, wrestling, baseball and was a self-taught guitar player. He loved to spend time with his family and friends and had an infectious personality that everyone loved.
Keith is survived by his father, James Hoskins, Independence; a sister, Lacie Kennett, Waterloo; a niece, Ella; a nephew, Ryder; his paternal grandmother, Roberta Hoskins, Independence; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. Also surviving are a special family friend, Liz DeVane; and his best friend, Max, his dog.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lloyd Hoskins; his great-grandparents, Frank and Louise Karsten; his uncle, Michael Eddy; and a cousin, Steven Keipinger.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 13, with services starting at 4 p.m. at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with Sharon Bainbridge officiating.
