Keil, Hazel Lanning
Hazel Lanning Keil, 96, of Marion, died Monday, May 16, 2011. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, May 19, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Pastor Jay Jentink. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point, Iowa.
Survivors include two sisters, Doris Smith of San Jose, Calif., and Evelyn (Bert) Roseberry of Center Point; and one brother, Arnold (Maxine) Lanning of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, John; and sisters, Freida Harrell and Avis Moon.
Hazel was born July 15, 1914, the daughter of Earl and Elva (Boyd) Lanning, in Green's Grove, Iowa. She married Frederick Keil on Feb. 4, 1940, in Cedar Rapids. They lived in Port Washington, Long Island until 1967 when they moved to Jackson, New Jersey. In 1974, they moved to Iowa. Hazel, a registered nurse, was a 1936 graduate of the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids.
