Keel Arthur Peterson, 85, of Cedar Rapids, passed away April 28, 2024. Visitation: 11 AM – 2 PM, Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Private Family Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Keel was born on March 10, 1939, the son of Lawrence and Laura (Frazee) Peterson. He was raised on the family farm outside of Alburnett and graduated from Alburnett High School in 1957. He married Linda Price in 1963. Two children were born to this union, Paul and Amy. They were later divorced. Keel farmed for many years and owned and operated Keel Electric for 30 years. He loved to golf and boat on the Cedar River, Mississippi River, and Lake of the Ozarks.
Survivors include his children Paul Peterson and Amy (Ryan) Hajek; grandchildren Amanda (Mitch) and Dylan Peterson and Josey (Tel) Moeller; significant other Jackie Meskimen and her children Kevin (Teresa) Mark (Diana) and Brad (Dixie) Meskimen and her grandchildren; sister Pat (Dale) Jensen; two nieces and their families.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers Lawrence Jr. and Lloyd Wayne.
“Dad did dialysis for over 15 years, he was tired and ready to go see his buddies in Heaven.”
