Keegan, Blanche M.
Blanche M. Keegan, 87, of Maquoketa, formerly of Oxford Junction, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at Maquoketa Care Center. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oxford Junction. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation also will be held on Friday one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in the Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction, Iowa.
Blanche Lasack was born May 26, 1923, in Oxford Junction, Iowa, to Henry and Christina (Landa) Lasack. She married Kerin Keegan on Sept. 17, 1948, in Oxford Junction. He died in 1983.
Everyone who met Blanche took to her beautiful brown eyes and gentle spirit. She was a person who made the best of everything. Blanche especially enjoyed her family, friends, hearing about and meeting people's children, talking about her life on the farm and playing her favorite game, bingo. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction.
Blanche is survived by a sister-in-law, Alice Lasack of Lost Nation; nieces and nephews, William Horstmann and Jo Anne Horstmann of Lost Nation, Lou Ann Horstmann of Sevierville, Tenn., Michael Lasack of Martelle, Mary Ann Kouba of Wyoming, Steve Welsh and Mike Welsh of Welton, Barb Kincaid of Clinton, Shirley Curley of Oxford Junction, and Stella Knapper and Susan Sivertsen of DeWitt; and many stepnieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Emil and Charles Lasack; and two sisters, Dorothy Welsh and Lula Horstmann.
Memorials are preferred.
