Kay Elizabeth Kline, 74, of Bennett, died peacefully at 12:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, with her family at her bedside. Her family will receive friends beginning at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 9 with a time of sharing memories at 6 p.m. followed by a time of food and fellowship at Bennett American Legion Community Center.
Memorials will be donated to the Bennett American Legion and Iowa City Hospice. Online memorials may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Kay was born Jan. 13, 1944, in De Smet, S.D., and was the daughter of Nels Rasmus and Myrtle Helen Warne Paulson. She graduated from Erwin Consolidated High School in 1962. Kay was united in marriage to Bernard Joseph Kline on Sept. 9, 1978, in Lowden, Iowa. Kay worked for Wabash Transformer for over 20 years and then worked for Bennett Day Care for several years. She loved to work in her vegetable and flower gardens, canning, being Gramma KK to so many and playing a good game of cards.
Kay is lovingly survived by four children, Cynthia (Tom) Doermann of Tipton, Lori (Jeff Nelson) Smith of Salem, Ore., Amy (Lavern) Cole of Bennett and Jeffery Beck of California; sisters, Shirley Holland of Lake Preston, S.D., Diann Stanley of Aurora, Colo., Beverly Nelson of Fargo, N.D., and Maxine Timmerman of Balaton, Minn.; brother, Gordon Paulson of Salina, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard "Barney" Kline; brothers, Garen Paulson and Roger Paulson; sisters, Marjean Patzwald, Donna Halverson and Marilyn Paulson; her dear friend, Carolyn Hain; and her parents, Nels and Myrtle Paulson.
