Kautz Jr., James A. 'Jim'
James A. “Jim” Kautz Jr., 66, of Marion, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, following a sudden illness. Family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 15, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, followed by burial at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Pamela (Richard) Kolosick and Tony (Toni) Kautz, both of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Boneata Bell Kautz of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Carolyn (Gary) Jepsen of Durant.
Jim was born Nov. 10, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of James A. and L. Boneata (Bell) Kautz Sr. He graduated from Bennett High School in 1963, then joined the Iowa Army National Guard. On April 25, 1965, Jim was united in marriage to Barbara Gade in Tipton. He was an insurance agent for Sheets, Forrest, Draper in Marion for 30 years.
Jim served in the Iowa Army National Guard for 20 plus years in the Iowa City Medical Battalion, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Marion American Legion Post 298 and Metro Networking Association.
Jim loved to travel with his wife, going to festivals, NASCAR, enjoyed a great restaurant, and loved Branson, Mo.
Jim was an amazing son, husband, brother, father, and friend. He was a great guy who will be missed by all, especially his dog, Cinnamon.
