Kauffman, John J.
John J. Kauffman, 72, of rural Iowa City, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City from injuries suffered in an auto accident. A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, at East Union Mennonite Church, with Pastor Jay Miiller officiating. Burial will follow at East Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta of Iowa City; four daughters, Karleen Uitermark of Story City, Marina Davis of Powell, Wyo., LaDonna Abbott of Jones, Okla., and Jonette Kemling of Grant, Neb.; 13 grandchildren; and one brother, Nyle (Lauralee) Kauffman of Iowa City.
A memorial fund has been established for an IMS Scholarship Fund or Water For Life.
