Kauffman, Deloras A.
Deloras A. Kauffman, 91, of Independence, formerly of the Fayette and Edgewood, area died Tuesday morning, July 31, 2012, at her home in Independence, Iowa.
Deloras was born on Nov. 27, 1920, in Edgewood, Iowa, the daughter of August G. and Verena C. (Ulbrich) Meyer. She attended the Little York Country School near Edgewood, Iowa. On Nov. 28, 1938, she married Doyle M. Kauffman in St. Mark's Catholic Church in Edgewood, Iowa. The family lived in Van Horn, and Edgewood, prior to establishing the Kauffman Farms in Scott Township, near Fayette, where she resided until moving to Independence, in the spring of 2003
She is survived by 10 children, George (Roxie) Kauffman, Strawberry Point, Bonnie (William) Wenger, Ryan, Elizabeth (Donald) Van Dee, Buffalo, Mo., Anita (Robert) Barrett, Cedar Rapids, Doyle (Barbara) Kauffman, Chariton, Steven (Teresa) Kauffman, Ankeny, Verena (Amos) Guthrie, Raceland, La.., Marsha (Richard) Lens, Independence, Richard (Joyce) Kauffman, West Union, and Robert (Deb) Kauffman, Chariton; 43 three grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Meyer, Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Doyle Kauffman in 1979; three children, Janice Kauffman, Karen Calkins and David Kauffman; two sisters, Agnes Meyer and Mildred Feldman; a grandson, Michael Wenger; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua Wenger, Tina Kauffman and Melissa Bark.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at St. John's Catholic Church, Independence, with the Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Burial will be in St. Mark's Catholic Cemetery, Edgewood. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, where a rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and a parish vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
