Katie Miller, 77, of Keystone, formerly of Marion, died Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Keystone Nursing Care Center. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, with Pastor James Perry officiating. The service will be available via livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook page. Burial will follow at Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held from 4 to
6 p.m. Friday, March 4, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Keystone Nursing Care Center or Parkinson's Research.
Katie Irene (Coblentz) Miller was born June 12, 1944, in rural Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of Christian "Pops" and Edna (Thomas) Coblentz. After her mother's death when Katie was four, she was raised by Henry and Pearl Miller. She attended Prairie Dale rural school. On July 4, 1965, she was united in marriage to Chester I. Miller in Iowa City, Iowa. Katie was a housekeeper for many years, working at Methwick Manor in Cedar Rapids, and Oakdale in Iowa City. She was a member of Creekside Bible Church in Marion and enjoyed bingo, gardening, and playing cards. The family was very important to Katie, spending time with her kids, grandkids, siblings, and extended family meant the world to her.
Katie is survived by two sons, Anthony (Lisa) Miller and Brian (Heather) Miller, all of Blairstown, Iowa; four grandchildren, Austin Miller, Andrew (Chelsea) Burkart, Kaitlyn Miller and Madison Miller; three great-grandchildren, Kasyn, Riley and Aubree Burkart; two sisters, Helen Coblentz of Tiffin and Arlene (Jim) Schreiber of Riverside; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Scott) Ferguson of North Carolina and Linda Miller of Guernsey; and one brother-in-law, Chris (Betty) Miller of Williamsburg, Ky.
Preceding Katie in death were her parents; her husband, Chester, on July 27, 2019; one granddaughter, Kali Miller; five brothers, Amos, Danny, Ralph, DeWayne and Lloyd Coblentz; five sisters, Viola and Esther Coblentz, Mary Ellen Madden, Dorothy Vesely and Shirley Gilbert; and her stepmother, Gerry Coblentz.
