Kathryn Marie Sutton, 79, of Center Point, died at home surrounded by her family on Friday, May 8, 2015, in Indialantic, Fla. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion, by Pastor Dennis Johnson. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point, Iowa. Following graveside services, a luncheon will be held at the Legion Hall in Urbana.
Survivors include her husband, Newell, and daughter, Stephanie of Indialantic, Fla.; two sisters, Alice Geisler of Marion and Susan Gordon of Cedar Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Sharon (Alvin) Johnson of Anamosa and Belinda (Dwayne) Hanson; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Damon; and mother, Frances.
Kathryn was born July 25, 1935, in Aurora, Ill., the daughter of Walter and Dell (Morrill) Damon. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1953. She married Newell Sutton on June 15, 1957, at the First Lutheran Church in Manchester. Their daughter, Stephanie, was born Jan. 30, 1962. Kathryn worked as a telephone operator. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, was a member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, the 500 Card Club and was an election official. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, spending her vacations with them, especially when camping and fishing. She will be greatly missed by family and friends, her beloved husband and daughter.
