Kathryn's name.
Kathryn Louise Parsons was born May 18, 1927, in Graham Township in rural Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of Eugene and Clara (Stebral) Parsons. She married Leo J. Sida on April 15, 1947, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City. They enjoyed over 58 wonderful years of married life together, before Leo's death in 2005.
Kathryn attended Burr Oak Country School in Graham Township and graduated from University High School in Iowa City in 1945. After graduation, Kathryn worked at Gordon Van Tine Hardware Store in Iowa City as a store clerk and bookkeeper.
Kathryn so enjoyed being a farm wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. She enjoyed caring for her family and home, cooking, gardening, completing word-search puzzles and newspaper scrapbooks, raising chickens and helping her husband with field work and chores on the farm. Leo and Kathryn enjoyed going to dances, family gatherings, fishing trips, family vacations and attending school and music performances for which their daughter and grand-
daughter performed. Kathryn was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City.
In May 2010, Kathryn became a resident of the Solon Assisted Living Village and in January 2012 she moved to the Solon Nursing Care Center.
Kathryn was a hard-working, humble individual with a friendly and caring personality. She had a little smile that warmed the hearts of those who cared for her at the Solon Retirement Village.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Poduska of Solon; granddaughter, Cheryl Kuhlman and husband Aaron; and great-granddaughter, Katelyn Kuhlman, all of Fort Dodge; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Delores Parsons of rural Iowa City; a sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Victor Mougin of Iowa City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Leo J. Sida, who passed away Aug. 9, 2005; her parents, Eugene and Clara (Stebral) Parsons; and her son-in-law, Daniel Poduska, who died May 23, 2005.
