Kathryn "Katy" Ann Sellers (nee Barry), 75, died peacefully in her home in Henderson, Nev., on Sept. 26, 2014, after a six-month battle with lung cancer.
Born April 10, 1939, in Newhall, Iowa, she was a graduate of Newhall High School (1956) and of Iowa State University (1961). While at Iowa State, she met and married Irvin Leroy "Irv" Sellers, of Peoria, Ill.
During Katy's life, she became a Life Master bridge player, an avid poker player and an accomplished seamstress.
Her careers included bookkeeping, futures and securities trading and investment management. Katy and Irv retired to the Las Vegas area in 1993.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irv; and her parents, Leona and Lloyd Barry.
She is survived by her aunt, Evelyn Gunderson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three children, Brad Allen Sellers of Chicago, Richard Lee Sellers and his wife, Wendy Anne, of Mechanicsville, Va., and Roberta Lynne Sellers of Montpelier, Va.; nine grandchildren, Caroline, Derek, and Margaret Sellers (and one great-grandchild, Beck Sellers), Michael, Andrew, Mary Catherine and Nicole Sellers and Dennis Jr. and Cole Potridge.
A service will be 2 p.m, Thursday, Oct. 2, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, Nev. An additional service will be 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, at Our Lady of Lourdes, 8200 Woodman Rd., Henrico, Va.
