KATHRYN "SHORTY" MCGEE

Kathryn M. "Shorty" McGee, 54, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center. Private family services will be Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Survivors include her husband, Rick; three stepsons, Christopher of Texas, Daniel (Tracy) of Mississippi and Anthony of Cedar Rapids; a step-daughter, Hayley of Marion; two brothers, LeRoy and Simon, and a sister, Maryjane, all of Georgia. She also is survived by five stepgrandchildren; many cousins; aunts, including May Brock of Washington, Pa.; uncles; and many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Shorty was born June 12, 1960, in Washington, Pa. She married Richard "Rick" R. McGee on Aug. 22, 2008, in Cedar Rapids. Shorty worked for the Cedar Rapids Parks Department for many years.
She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, travel and she and Rick adopted many rescue dogs, including her last dog, Toby.
Shorty was a wonderful person whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
