KATHRYN MARIE "KAY" MOSCRIP
Cedar Rapids
Kathryn Marie "Kay" Moscrip died peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, after a brief illness. She was 87.
As was Kay's way, she was active and full of life right up until she became ill.
Kay loved her family, bicycling, gardening, antiques and her exercise classes.
She is survived by her loving companion of many years, Fred Schindler of Cedar Rapids; her son, Karl (Kathy) Moscrip of Marion; daughter, Kim Novak of Denver, Colo.; sister, Dolores A. Miessner of Cedar Rapids; and brother, Don Kacer of Des Moines. She is also survived by grandchildren, Amber Moscrip, Kate (Dan) Holtkamp, Kyle Moscrip (fiancee Leesa Cadwallader) and Jacob Novak. Kay was especially thrilled with the arrival of her first great-granddaughter, Taylor Holtkamp.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Walt Moscrip of Madison, Wis.
Kay was born March 22, 1930, to Ruby and Ed Kacer. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1948 and married Walter "Bud" Moscrip in 1949. They later divorced.
She and Fred met on the bike trail and enjoyed many happy years together. She will be greatly missed.
Kay requested that there be no funeral service. A celebration of life for family will be held at a later date.
