Kathryn J. Hansen, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The family will greet friends before the service. Private inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Katie was born July 14, 1928, in Cedar Rapids to Roscoe and Lula (Sarber) Rhodes. After graduating from high school, she was united in marriage to Wallace H. Hansen on June 14, 1947, in Cedar Rapids.
She worked as an administrative assistant with Blue Cross Blue Shield for most of her career, retiring in the late 1980s.
She enjoyed painting and sketching, gambling with her sister, and spending time with her beloved dog. She especially treasured time spent with friends and family.
Katie is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Mike) Langridge of Marion and Lori (Doug) Wittenberg of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Shane Trimble of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Min (Gary) Grams of St. Francis, Minn.; son-in-law, Joe Yurko of Cedar Rapids; nieces, Susan Stramel, Cheryl (Kurt) Carlson and Laurie Stramel; nephew, Doug (Vicki) Lane; and her dog, Bogie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wally, in 1965; her parents; son, Todd Hansen; daughter, Diane Yurko; sister and brother-in-law, Melda and Jerry Stramel; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Izora and Bob Lane; and nephew, Mike Stramel.
Memorials in Kathryn's name may be made to Cedar Valley Humane Society.
