KATHRYN GREER RAW
Minneapolis, Minn.
Kathryn Greer Raw, 38, of Minneapolis, Minn., passed away tragically in an automobile accident on June 5, 2021. To honor Kate, a celebration of her life will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, at Amsterdam Bar and Hall, 6th and Wabasha, St. Paul, Minn., with a reception to follow at the same location until 7 p.m.
Katy was born June 29, 1982, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the second child of Michael J. Raw and Nancy G. (McCrory) Drapeau. She graduated with her Bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa. She loved fine dining and food and, after graduating, worked as a cook, bartender, server and manager at restaurants in Iowa City, Ann Arbor and the Twin Cities. She worked extremely hard and took great pride in creating truly excellent fine dining experiences for her customers. If Katy was working, you knew you would be looked after - there was nothing like it.
Katy's superpower was making friends and bringing people together. Her warmth and generosity welcomed everyone into her world and her playfulness put them at ease. She was quick with a line from The Simpsons, or a practical joke, or an unforgettable, knee-slapping laugh that filled the room. She gave great hugs. We miss her terribly.
Carrying on her spirit are her partner, Bryan Hernandez of Minneapolis; her father and stepmother, Michael and Kathy Raw of Ankeny, Iowa; her brother, Matt Raw, and his wife, Maggie Campbell of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her niece, Charlotte; her nephew, Wilder; as well as cousins, extended family, friends and neighbors who loved her dearly.
Katy was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Drapeau.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, we have set up a GoFundMe memorial to cover expenses and to support Bryan through this difficult time. Any remaining funds will be donated to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund, a charity Katy supported during her mother's illness.
