Kathryn Ellie (Blanchett) Baker, 78, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, went home to Jesus on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The family will greet friends from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Private burial will be held at Anderson Cemetery in Swisher, Iowa.
Kathryn was born to Henry and Pauline (McKinney) Akers on July 5, 1944, in Itmann, W. Va. She married Johnie Blanchett in May of 1963, and with him had six children. She worked for Wilson Packing House in Cedar Rapids and was a loving mother who dedicated her life to raising her children.
Later, she met Fred Clinton, and they had a son. She remained with Fred for more than 40 years until her death. Kathryn loved bing, and going to the casino, as well as spending time with her family and friends. She was a strong, loving woman with a great sense of humor.
Survivors include her children, Sam (Deb Mcgrew) Blanchett, Tim (Kim) Blanchett, Johnie (Melissa) Blanchett, Preston (Beth) Blanchett, Stephanie Blanchett, and Scott (Amber) Clinton. Also included are 20 grandchildren, Derek, Jared, Kendra, Johnie, Justin, Brandi, Jacob, Liz, Nyah, Preston Jr., Zach, Jacob, Kadarrah, Darrianne, Andrew, Braden, Jarron, Scott Jr, Alaynna, and Jackson. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren (and counting).
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, her daughter, Kathy Lynn and two grandchildren, Steven and Carly.
