Kathryn Elizabeth Cole, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at the Meth-Wick Community.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at All Saints Catholic Church officiated by the Rev. John R. Flaherty. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery in Ossian, Iowa.
Kathryn was born Feb. 22, 1920, in Ossian, Iowa, to Charles and Mary (Peyer) Becker. After graduating high school, she attended secretarial school in Davenport. She was united in marriage to William Cole on Sept. 18, 1944, in Ossian.
Kathryn was a homemaker for most of her life. She had worked as a cashier for the Milwaukee Railroad from 1968 until 1976. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City from 1964 until 2012, where she was active in the Rosary Society. She was most recently a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
In her earlier years, Kathryn enjoyed golfing and playing piano. She loved to do needlework, especially embroidery, and reading. She was known for her famous popcorn balls.
Kathryn is survived by two children, Karen (Mark) Tyler, Cedar Rapids, and Bill Cole, St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, Chris (Charity) Tyler, Cedar Rapids, Sara Tyler (Ed Jackson), Spencer, Brandon Cole, St. Louis, and Jordan Cole, St. Louis; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Monnahan and Calli, Samantha and Jonathan Tyler; sister, Jean Groff, Johnston; sisters-in-law, Arlene Becker, Bella Vista, Ark., and Doris Cole, Decorah; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William in January of 2010; two brothers, Reginald and Richard Becker; and two sisters, Helen Loftus and Gladys Innes.
