Kathryn Burke Beisell, 90, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at the Anamosa Care Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Anamosa. The family will greet friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Father Scott Boone will officiate at the services. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Surviving are 13 children, Katie (Prewitt) Rose, Peggy Hageman, Marie (Sam) Brink, John Burke, Susan (Brad) Brady, Brien (Chris) Burke, Kevin (Cindy) Burke, Pat Burke, Tom (Sherri) Burke, Erin (Dick) Kaufmann, Tim (Lisa) Burke, James (Sandy) Burke and Bridgid (Scott) Patterson; 20 grandchildren, Andy, Emily Brink Horak and Katie Brink Crocker, Ryan and Sean Brady, Kyle Burke, Dan, Collin, Adam and Drew Burke, Will and Thomas Kaufmann, Quinn, Gavin and Madalyn Burke, Sam and Margaret Burke, Laura and Anna Patterson and Thorton Rose; and six great-grandchildren, Kaia, Cael, Gavin, Ayla, Milo and Charlie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, J.C. Burke and Earl Beisell; a great-grandson, Bennett Burke; and siblings, Mary Frances (Frankie) Brady, Ellen Cavanaugh, Tom Maudsley and Jane Ortner.
Kathryn Marie Maudsley was born Aug. 15, 1927, in Anamosa, Iowa. She was the daughter of Francis and Celestina O'Brien Maudsley. She was a graduate of the Anamosa High School class of 1945. She continued her education at the College of St. Theresa in Winona, Minn. She married J.C. Burke on Dec. 29, 1947. Kathryn worked for the Department of Human Services. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge club and Mothers Club.
