Kathleen Martin
KATHLEEN F. MARTIN
Marion
Kathleen Frances Martin lost her battle with Alzheimer's disease, surrounded by the love of her family, on March 25, 2016.
She was born in Prairie du Chien, Wis., on Aug. 10, 1939, to Joseph and Leona Wachter.
Kathleen graduated from Waukon High School in 1957. She worked at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids before retiring after 28 years of service. In those years, she developed loving and lasting relationships with all of her dear friends.
Her greatest love was her family. She is survived by her four sons, Tom (Diane) Martin of Mount Vernon, Bob (Sandy) Martin of Marion, Mike (Kelly) Martin of Mount Vernon and Rich (Heather) Martin of West Des Moines; and 11 grandchildren, Adam (Molly), Alex, Ryan (Megan), Jared (Gloria), Annie, Connor, Jessica, Maggie, Bridget, Abbie and Chase. Her surviving siblings are Jim (Mary) Wachter and Carol (Dick) Fossum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Leona Wachter; and her sisters, Mary Jo Needham and Rita Boardman.
Her family would like to thank the caregivers at Hallmark Care Center for their loving and compassionate care of Kathleen.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but we are comforted by the knowledge that she is Kathleen once again.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, 4200 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Kathleen's name.
Please send all contributions to the care of Robert Martin, 4395 McGowan Blvd., Marion, IA 52302.
