Katheryn (Kathy) Ann Rutherford, 68 of Cedar Rapids IA passed away suddenly on July 19th at Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Kathy was born in Beaumont TX on December 5th, 1955, to Kenneth and Catherine (Mickey) Rutherford. She had 2 brothers, Kenny (Robin) Rutherford of Little Rock AR, and David Rutherford of Tyler TX.
Kathy was a graduate of Regis High School. She was a certified reiki master and an end-of-life doula. She was also an ordained minister and performed several marriage ceremonies including that of her eldest son.
Kathy worked for Rockwell Collins from the time she was 18 and retired after a long and fulfilling career in December of 2015. After her retirement she pursued her spiritual and metaphysical passions including teaching reiki classes and hosting in person and online meditations.
Kathy was a member of St Wenceslaus Catholic church in Cedar Rapids.
Kathy is survived by her brother Kenneth (Robin) Rutherford, her sons Jon (Allie) Sacora, Jeff (Ashley) Sacora, her grandchildren Cynthia (Kyle), Jessalynne (Nate), Hannah, Michaela, Ava, Kieran, Chaley, Adalyn, and Briella, as well as her great grandchildren Wyatt, Elon, and Bjorn, and her beloved dog Winston.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Catherine, as well as her brother David.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
A memorial fund is being set up with Farmers State Bank and all funds will go to the Animal Welfare Foundation.
