Katherine Ross, 91, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at the Willows in Mount Pleasant.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Hillsboro Christian Church, with the Rev. David Callen officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will be present from 4 to 6 p.m. that evening.

Memorials may be directed to Hillsboro Christian Church or the Willows in her memory.

Katherine was born Oct. 1, 1926, in Salem, the daughter of George M. "Pat" and Gladys White King. She was united in marriage to Wm. M. Ross on June 9, 1946, at the Salem Friends Church they were the first couple to be married in the church. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2006. Before her marriage, she worked at Sheaffer Pen, and after her marriage, she helped her husband on the family farm.

Katherine was a member of Hillsboro Christian Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and made many blankets for her family.

She is survived by her children, Penelope Ensminger of Mount Pleasant, Kellie (Daniel) Henke of Quincy and Tony Ross; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jessica (Brandon) Edgar, and their children, Deacon, Tatum and Liam; Mary (Daniel) Arroyo; Kate (Josh) Watts, and their children, Khloe and Alyna; and Amanda (Todd) Greip, and their children, Dalton, Madelyn, Brandon and Caylin; three brothers, Bill King of Mount Pleasant, Bob King of Rogers, Ark., and Charles King of Memphis, Mo.; and one sister, Patty Nicol of North Carolina.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson, Brandon W. Ross; three brothers, Jim, Merlin and Rex; and four sisters, Estyl, Linda, Joanne and Marilyn.
