Karole Kay TerVeen was born Dec. 10, 1939, at Estherville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Marvin and Helen Miller TerVeen. She received her early education in Estherville schools. Her family moved to Monticello in 1947 and Karole graduated with the class of 1957 from Monticello High School. She continued her education at a travel school in Minneapolis. Karole worked for American Airlines in Chicago and later for the Burlington Railroad at Union Station in Chicago.
Karole TerVeen married Paul Chisman on Feb. 1, 1961, at the Carmel Highlands Chapel by the Sea, Carmel Calif. The couple resided in Pacific Grove, Calif., and Karole left the travel industry to begin a family and raise her children. In 1974, Karole's family moved back to Monticello. Over the years, Karole shared her caring and delightful personality working as an in-home childcare provider, nurse's aide at the Monticello Nursing Home and cashier at Hardee's restaurant, where she greeted all her customers with her signature, beautiful smile. Her greatest legacy in life was her family and spending as much time as possible with them.
