Karen Marie Robison, 73, died Thursday, April 19, 2018, with her sisters by her side at the Vinton Lutheran Home following a long illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Urbana with Father Ardel Barta as celebrant. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 27, at the church and one hour prior to Mass on Saturday. Committal will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Brandon Cemetery.
Karen was born Sept. 29, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of George Raymond and Mary Catherine Gutenkauf Schoeberl. She was a 1962 graduate of Brandon High School and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. On Feb. 2, 1963, Karen was united in marriage to Dwayne Dale Robison at St. John Catholic Church in Independence. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 2008.
Karen worked in human services as a social worker, retiring in 2005. Karen was an active member of the Independence community, including St. John Catholic Church. She'd most recently been attending services at St. Mary Catholic Church in Urbana. She enjoyed gardening and ceramics, and she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
Karen is survived by two sons, Cletus (Gigi) Robison of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Connor Robison of Independence; one brother, Jerry (Grace) Schoeberl of Pulaski, Tenn.; two sisters: Leanna Mraz of Winnebago, Ill., and twin, Karol (Chuck) Smith of Brandon; four granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and sister-in-law, Sharon Schoeberl of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dwayne; daughter, Chrystal Robison; brothers, Cletus, Robert, Donovan and Eugene Schoeberl; brother-in-law, Chuck Mraz; and sisters-in-law, Barb and Pat Schoeberl.
A memorial fund has been established.
