Karen Faye Reck, 74, of Cedar Rapids, passed away suddenly with her loving family surrounding her on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016.
A visitation will be from
5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18,
at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Karen was born Feb. 11, 1942, to Richard and Martha (Thoresen) Kruger in Waukon, Iowa. She married Jerold D. Reck on May 31, 1980, in Marion. Karen worked as a para teacher for College Community Schools for many years and owned Silk Florals by Karen. In her spare time, when she wasn't with her children, foster children, and grandchildren, she spent her time doing different crafts.
Karen is survived by her loving spouse of 36 years, Jerold; her children, Scott Tjaden, Todd (Riojean) Tjaden, Lori Tracy, Wallace Reck, Kerry Reck, Lisaca Shuttleworth and Tina Hutchison; multiple foster children; 12 grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; siblings, David Kruger, Rick (Sandy) Kruger and Cindy Clause; and her former spouse, Calvin Tjaden.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
