Karen Ann Ness, 70, of Center Point, died Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, March
18, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by the Rev. Mike Ellson. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the funeral home. Burial: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Raetz Cemetery, rural Atkins.
Survivors include many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joanna Ness.
Karen was born Jan. 28, 1945, the daughter of Lyal and Virginia (Murray) Ness, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After graduating from high school, she attended Cedar Rapids Business School. For 32 years, Karen worked in bookkeeping at Merchants National Bank and also part-time as a waitress/cook at the Gulf in Center Point for 23 years.
Karen was a member of the Center Point United Methodist Church and Pythian Sisters, where she served as a supreme representative.
Memorials may be directed to an animal shelter of choice or the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Karen.
