Karen Marie Ledvina, 83, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away at Keystone Care Center, Keystone, IA surrounded by loving family.
Karen was born January 5, 1941, the daughter of Frank A. and Mildred M. (Polka) Hala. She grew up in Tama County. Karen attended Tama High School. She enjoyed going dancing, where she met Eugene Ledvina. They married September 21, 1957 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Tama. They lived in Belle Plaine where they raised their family. Karen worked several jobs around Belle Plaine, she worked for Belle Plaine Nursery, wrote recipe columns for the Belle Plaine Union, and had the Belle Plaine Answering Service. With her servant’s heart she was on the Belle Plaine Ambulance.
Karen enjoyed traveling with Eugene, porcelain dolls, doing ceramics, sewing, especially making quilts, bowling, and playing cards. She was a devoted mother who kept the house together, a good wife and always there for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Ledvina of Keystone, IA; son, Mark (Holly) Ledvina of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Janell (Carla) Thomas of Belle Plaine, Tamara Knapp of Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Rachel, Kelsey, Abigail; great-grandchildren, Izaak, Madison, Nichole, Aiden, Liam; great-great-grandchild, Asher; sister, Doris Stewart; brothers, Bernie Hala, David Hala; special friend Donna Rudd and many more loving family and friends.
Karen was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and granddaughter, Ana Hopwood.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024 at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Belle Plaine, IA, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.
