Karen Louise Williams, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, following a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home by Penny Ackerman. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Private burial will take place at Crawfordsville Cemetery.
Karen is survived by her husband, Lyle; two daughters, Tammy (Steve) Girling of Hiawatha and Tricia (Clark) Brown of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Mariah and Derek Girling of Waterloo and Hailey Voyek of Cedar Rapids and sister, Nancy (Jim) Behrends of Chappell, Neb.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and infant twin sister.
Karen was born on Nov. 21, 1942, in New York, the daughter of Kenneth and Alberta Cochran. Rhea. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1961 and attended Iowa Teachers College. She married Lyle Williams on November 29, 1964 in Crawfordsville. Karen worked as a receptionist for Drs. Carroll and Crall in Cedar Falls for over 30 years.
Karen and Lyle were avid campers, squares dancers and Iowa Hawkeyes Football and Basketball fans. They enjoyed riding their motorcycle and bicycles together. Karen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and never missed their activates. Karen had a love of frogs and had a huge frog collection.
