Karen Lou Abbott, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away at home on Thursday, May 12, 2022. There will be no services. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services is caring for Karen and her family.
Survivors include her son, Jeff (Dana) Abbott; sister, Pat (Steve) Freeman; grandchildren, Mason, Madyson, Dillon, Alissa, Taylor and Victoria; niece, Jennifer McBurney; nephew, Joshua Freeman; great-niece, Brianna McBurney; and special friend, Dick Lacy.
Karen was born Jan. 24, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Harvey and Grace (Roberts) Hines. She graduated from Washington High School in 1967. Karen was a motor route carrier for the Cedar Rapids Gazette for many years. She enjoyed taking care of her bird, Jadey, collecting rocks and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Grace; and her daughter, Angela Marti.
Karen's family extends a sincere thank-you to Hospice of Mercy, especially Christa and Beth for their compassionate care.
