Cedar Rapids
Karen L. (Minninger) Davies, 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died on Feb. 8, 2022, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House, her family at her bedside. Funeral services have been handled by Cedar Memorial.
Karen is survived by her sons, Jason Davies of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Eric Davies of Denver, Collo.; her twin sister, Karla Brecke; sisters, Terri Anton (Hermann), Nancy Stenerson and Charlotte Jones (Dennis); brother, John Minninger; and four-legged companions, Lunar and Sissy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Marian Minninger; brother, James Minninger; brother in-law, Kenneth Stenerson; and companions, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, who await on the far side of the Rainbow Bridge.
Born July 26, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Karen came into the world with a best friend for life, her identical twin, Karla. Karen graduated from Jefferson High School in 1973.
She worked for John the 23rd Church in Fairfax before taking a job with the Grand Lodge of Iowa located in the Masonic Library. Karen was the family go-to caregiver when Dad needed to get to/from dialysis, Mom required daily care, and ensured Charlotte's girls, Jenifer and Megan had a lap to hold them when their Mom was at the Mayo Clinic.
Karen always had an affinity for sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She enjoyed shop hops to quilt shows, and making beautiful quilts and cross-stitching works given to friends and family.
The family wants to thank Renee, Robynette, Breanna and their families for helping Jason through this difficult heartbreaking period. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to Joel, Theresa and others at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House for the touching care given to Karen and family.
Sympathy cards may be sent to Jason Davies, 2507 DeSoto St. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404-4863.
