Karen E. Dickey, 81, of Mechanicsville, passed away Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Her memorial service will be held at
2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Dawson Funeral Services in Olin. A visitation will be held on prior to her service on Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Dawson Funeral services in Olin. Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsville.
Karen Elizbeth was born on Sept. 17, 1940, in Iowa to Ben and Doris (Woods) Albaugh. She graduated from Mechanicsville High School in 1958. On May 1, 1959, she was united in marriage to Fred Dickey in Mechanicsville. She was a member of the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church, the Red Hat Society and the Mechanicsville Legion Auxiliary. She spent many years traveling with her husband in their truck. Karen enjoyed spending her winters in Yuma, Ariz. She also enjoyed going to new places and trying new things. She loved socializing and always had a lot to say. Karen adored spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Renae Boettcher and Regina Kerner, both of Anamosa, and Rod (Michelle McCall) Dickey and Randy (Kelley) Dickey, both of Mechanicsville; six grandchildren, Rachelle, Brandon, Todd, Cassie, Lainey and Curtis; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Dennis; brother-in-law, Russ Dickey; and mother and father-in-law, Bill and Myrtle Dickey.
