Karen Joyce Conrad, 70, of Rudy, Ark., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died at home Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015. Private cremation took place and her body was returned to Mother Nature.
Survivors include her husband, Dean S. Conrad; children, Kim Moyston, Barling, Ark., Kevin Conrad, Savannah, Ga., and Kelly Vulysteke (Rick Vulysteke), Cedar Rapids; sister, Beatrice Artz, Demorest, Ga.; five grandchildren, Nichole Vogt, Jennifer Vanourney, Tyler Giese, Jessica Giese and Nathan Moyston; and four great-grandchildren, Austin and Ashley Schuttloffel and Dahlia and Jack Cloven.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Ringer; mother, Ann Ringer; and brother, Ronald Ringer.
Karen was born Jan. 1, 1945, in Pocahontas, Iowa. After moving to Cedar Rapids, she married Dean S. Conrad on July 23, 1960. They owned and operated Clayt's Auto Service. After retirement, they moved to Rudy, Ark.
Karen loved her family and the outdoors. She had a special place in her heart for her dogs, Zip and Boots (the girls).
Karen was an extraordinary person and will be greatly missed.
