Karen Lynn Christensen, 57, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017. A celebration of life will be
held at a later date. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Marion.
Survivors include her husband, Max; children, Shana Christensen (fiance, Josh Staskal) and Kye Christensen (fiancee, Ashley Walton); two grandchildren, Lydia and Peyton; siblings, Kathy (Jim) Capes, Kevin (Trina) Herren and Kent (Shelley) Herren; mother-in-law, Helen Christensen; and her faithful canine companion, Cooper.
Karen was born Sept. 29, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Melvin and Maxine Herren. She graduated from Marion High School and attended Kirkwood Community College. On Aug. 23, 1986, she married Max Christensen. Karen worked at MCI, McLeod and, lastly, at Rockwell Collins.
She will be remembered for her beautiful quilts, love of reading, caring for her garden and flowers, and her expert Candy Crush skills. She and Max loved taking day and weekend trips in their Miata, visiting fun places and making memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
