Karen Ann Schultz, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha after a short battle with lung cancer. At Karen's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Greg Schultz; parents, Bill and Ellen Matus; and brother, Bill Matus.
Karen is survived by her sister, Barb (Mike) Driscoll of Cedar Rapids; and her many nieces and nephews and their children.
Karen was born on May 13, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Bill and Ellen Matus. Karen married Greg on June 29, 1991, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died on April 6, 2011. She worked at Souvenir for 30 years and spent many years helping others as a CNA.
Karen truly adored her husband, enjoyed time spent with family, her dogs and taking vacations. Karen will always be remembered for her kind and giving nature, her laughter and caring heart.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for their compassionate and loving care of Karen.
In honor of her great-nephew, who bravely fights pediatric cancer, donations can be made to Children's Cancer Connection or the Children's Cancer Research Fund.
