Karen was born Feb. 19, 1939, in rural Clayton County, the daughter of Samuel Dale and Marjorie (Waterman) Hansel. She attended a one-room schoolhouse and later graduated from Colesburg High School in 1956. Karen was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Becicka on July 29, 1970, in Minnesota. She worked at Square D for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, going to the casino, fishing, mushroom hunting, playing cards, dancing, having a good margarita, and most of all spending time with her family and friends. She grew up having family dinners on Sundays and continued this tradition until her recent death. She was known to dance a pretty good jig in her earlier years at the Lakeside dance hall in Guttenberg. Karen had a spice for life, enjoyed staying active, and loved having a good time. She was looking forward to this year's golf season with her golfing buddies.
Karen is survived by her children Joni (Bruce) Slycord, Nicole Becicka (Tracy Young), Robin (Gary) Vollbrecht, Cherie Steckly and Tammy (Brian) McNeal; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Carol Stone; sister-in-law Joyce Hansel; many nieces and nephews; and her spoiled cat Missy Roo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, two infant son,s Brian and Jeffrey, her siblings Shirley Shelton, Beverly (Charlie) Renken, Lester (Jane) Hansel, Neil Hansel, Sandy (Roger) Brown, Roger Hansel and Patsy Stone; and sister-in-law, Eva (Bob) Holub.
