Karelvicz, Mary I.
Mary I. Karelvicz, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center following an extended illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home by Deacon Paul Zimmerman. Private burial: St. John Cemetery. Friends may visit after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mary is survived by three sisters, Pauline A. Hall and Betty J. DeSotel, both of Marion, and Faye I. Reynolds of Palo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; brothers, John R. Reynolds and James A. Reynolds; and three sisters, Ruth Ann Reynolds, Lillian M. Brown and Leona E. Reynolds.
Mary Isabelle (Reynolds) Karelvicz was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Palo, the daughter of Arthur and Ida (Owens) Reynolds. She graduated from Palo High School in 1938. She then went to Coe College and graduated in 1942. She married Frank Karelvicz on June 25, 1949, in Cedar Rapids. Mary worked at Collins Radio/ Rockwell Collins in quality control for over 25 years.
Mary enjoyed antiquing and refinishing furniture with her husband Frank. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or St. Luke's Hospice.
