Kappmeyer, Dakota James
Dakota James Kappmeyer, 12, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may join family Thursday evening for a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow Friday services.
Dakota was survived by his parents, Nathan and Rebecca Kappmeyer; sister Julia; aunt, Stephanie (Jamie) Junker and children, Coltinn, Brennen and Madison; great-grandma, Norma Kappmeyer; great-aunt, Nancy Torson; uncle, Paul (Jessica) Cones and children, Sarah and JD; aunts, Donna (Chris) Hammen and children, Gabrielle and Nick, Bobbi (Chris) Mazurek and children Chloe, Ethan and Isabella; aunt, Heather Cones; and grandparents, Paul and Linda Cones and Nate Kappmeyer.
He was preceded in death by Grandma Suzann Torson.
Dakota enjoyed playing his video games, playing on the computer and watching the Food Network.He was a seventh-grader at Roosevelt Middle School.
A memorial fund in Dakota's name is being established by the family.
