Kaplan, David Joseph
David Joseph Kaplan, 64, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at home of natural causes. A celebration of life will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at the Keg, 719 Fifth St. SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial will be at a later date at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, Iowa.
David was born Nov. 22, 1948, in Rockwell, Iowa. In 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for 3½ years. He received numerous medals for his time in Vietnam. He was a father, grandfather, brother and friend, and will be great missed among them all. Anyone who knew him will never forget him. He made a lasting impression in many ways.
Survivors include his daughters, Tina Kaplan and Lori Henderson, both of Cedar Rapids; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Philip (Kathy) Kaplan, Paul (Michele) Kaplan and Patrick (Anita) Kaplan; and sisters, Linda Rauh, Mary Sue (Edward) Butler and Jeannie (Larry) Kaplan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Delores (Logan) Kaplan; his stepmother, Helen Kaplan; brothers, Jerry, Robert and twin, Daniel; and sister, Phyllis.
