Kantor, Loretta Margaret
Loretta Margaret Kantor, 101, of Iowa City, died peacefully Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral Mass will celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, June 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ken Kuntz officiating. Burial will at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lakota Indian Nursing Program in Aberdeen, S.D., or for masses at the Franciscan Missions.
Loretta was born June 9, 1909, in Iowa City, the daughter of Joseph and “Lottie” Charlotte Miller Rummelhart. Loretta married Arthur J. Kantor on Oct. 22, 1945, at St. Mary's Church.
She was employed in the catalog department at the University of Iowa Libraries.
Loretta is survived by two children, Joseph Kantor of Iowa City and Mary (Tom) Dougherty of Knoxville, Tenn.; her sister, Gertrude Miller of Iowa City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband; and siblings, Edith Brysch, Kathryn Keeley, Matilda Shrader, Leo Rummelhart, George Rummelhart and John Rummelhart Sr.
