Kanellis, Darlene A.
Darlene A. Kanellis, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, at St. Matthew Catholic Church. The Rev. David Beckman will officiate. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Peter; her son, Michael S. Kanellis of Cedar Rapids; her sister, Noel Tyson of Milwaukee, Wis.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Darlene was born May 5, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of William and Helen Convey. She graduated from St. Patrick's High School and worked for two years in the Cedar Rapids School System and then as a homemaker. She was married to Peter Stanley Kanellis on July 1, 1950, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed.
