Kane, Rosella Mae
Rosella Mae Kane, 83, of Marion, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at the Hospice House of Mercy after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church in Marion by the Rev. John Albertson. Burial 2:30 p.m. Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Rosella is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Fye of San Diego, Calif.; son, Vicar Daniel Eugene Patrick (Velma) Kane of Cedar Rapids; son, Kevin Randolph (Patricia) Kane of San Diego; daughter, Renee Marie (Paul) Petersen of Davenport; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her golden retriever, Kennoli.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene F. “Pat” Kane; and a great-granddaughter, Monique Danielle Szumilas.
Rosella Mae was born Nov. 28, 1929, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Doyle Marvin Stephenson and Lena Emma Lanz. She married Eugene Francis Kane on Oct. 15, 1947, in Sigourney. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Marion.
She retired from Nash Finch. She enjoyed the many friends she met through her 40 years in Amway. She was active in her church and enjoyed being an integral part of the church choir. She was a 30 year member of the Marion Community Band, retiring from the percussion section at the age of 80. Her vegetable garden and her flowers were a lifelong passion. She loved watching all the birds that came to feed off of her many bird feeders. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan.
