Kammerer, June A.
June A. Kammerer, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Dec. 20, 2010, at the Hiawatha Care Center following a short illness. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at St. Pius X Catholic Church by the Rev. David Ambrosy. Entombment will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a vigil service will be held at 6 p.m.
June is survived by her children, Mike Kammerer and wife Nancy of Urbandale and Pam Zimmerman and husband Mark of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Christy (Chris Thomas), Jaime (Sayle) Shipman, Jason (Tara) Kammerer, Kelly Miller; stepgranddaughter, Sarah (Jeff) Smith; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 62 years, Leo; and her seven brothers and sisters.
June Adel Kammerer was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Britt, Iowa, the daughter of John and Amelia (Fennawald) Mulert. She was united in marriage to Leo P. Kammerer on July 31, 1948, in Rock Island, Ill., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Leo preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2010. June was employed as a registered nurse for several years until she began caring for her family as a homemaker.
She was an avid golfer with her husband Leo. June greatly enjoyed time she was able to spend with family and friends. She was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in June's honor may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church.
