Jungman, Charles A. 'Chuck'
Charles A. “Chuck” Jungman, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, after a long illness. He was born in Cedar Rapids on Jan. 17, 1925, to Josephine (Halcek) and Charles Jungman.
Chuck served in the Navy and worked for many years in the wholesale lumber industry. He was active in the community, serving on the Linn County Planning Commission, Linn County Mental Health Center board, and was a member of the Czech Heritage Foundation.
He loved to draw and leaves a wonderful collection of stories and drawings about growing up in the Cedar Rapids Czech community for his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Virginia L. (Repass) Jungman; daughters, Virginia Allen of Cedar Rapids and Debra (Mohamed) Dahab of Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren, Tamra and Bonnie Williams, Nadia and Sophia Dahab, and Yasser (Katherine) Dahab; sister, Margaret Holets of Croften, Md.; nieces; and great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service held at a later date. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial donations may be given to the Czech Heritage Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.
