June M. Mead, 91, of Marion, left this Earth to be with her Lord on April 12, 2017, at Winslow House Care Center. In honoring her wishes, there will be no visitations. A private family memorial service will take place at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, with Pastor John Albertson presiding. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa.
June was born on June 1, 1925, in Monticello, to William and Minnie (Hansen) Schrader. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Anamosa High School in 1943. June was united in marriage to Fred Mead on March 23, 1968. After having been employed at Mercy Medical Center for 23 years, she retired in 1987. June was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, as well as Marion Legion Post 298 and VFW post 788 auxiliaries.
She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and cooking, but, most of all, spending time with her family and (special friend) Ralph.
June is survived by her children, Pamela Holman of Birmingham, Ala., Patricia (Jeff) Knief of Waterloo, Iowa, and Dennis (Mary) Beadle of Center Point, Iowa; granddaughter, Kelsey (Henry) Carlson of Hudson, Iowa; stepsons, Michael and Ron Mead; stepgrandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren; a large extended family; and special friend, Ralph Spies of Tipton, Iowa. Also surviving is her sister, Bernice Brunscheen of Mechanicsville, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant daughter, Connie Beadle; and siblings, Wilma Brady, Clarence and John Lavern Schrader.
Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
