June Eva (Marsh) Kaska, 67, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at her home of a brief illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Humane Society or It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com
June was born on July 3, 1957, in Naugatack, CT, the daughter of Albert DuFresne and Lorraine (Carpenter) DuFresne. Growing up, she spent many hours helping in the family floral shop in Naugatack, CT. She was a competitive swimmer with state level awards in high school. Her family made wonderful summer memories on the beach at the family cottage on Cape Cod, MA. June graduated from Boston College with a nursing degree and moved to Cedar Rapids, IA, after. She had a career in nursing, working at various hospitals and nursing homes in the Cedar Rapids area for several years. Later, she worked for the Cedar Rapids Community School District and Hy-Vee.
She married Dwight Kaska on September 9, 2023 at Wild Cat Den State Park, IA and resided with her prince in Muscatine. June enjoyed doing home projects and decorating, various crafts, spending time with friends, and volunteering at a local nursing home. She especially enjoyed boating with Dwight, who adored and treated June like a queen. June always had pets over the years as she was an avid dog lover.
June is survived by her husband, Dwight of Muscatine, IA; mother-in-law, Char Marsh of Cedar Rapids, IA, sister, Lori Butler of Holliston, MA, son, Richard and wife Lori Eddings of Phoenix, AZ, daughter, Amanda Marsh of Iowa City, IA, and son, Adam and wife Yukari Mayer of Cedar Rapids, IA. She adored her five grandchildren Kenrick, Kalina, Alexander, Averi, and Jace. She is also survived by four nieces Keri, Kathy, Keli and Kristi, and several grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins. Her loving dogs Bernie, Callie, and Liberty also miss her.
She is preceded in death by her father Albert, mother Lorraine, cousin Donnie Fisher, and father-in-law Kenneth Marsh.
